The original Austin Healey 3000 had a 2912 cc in-line 6-cylinder engine with twin SU carburettors that had a top speed of 185 km/h, and Girling front disc brakes. Originally this version was simply called the 3000.
The addition of Mark I only came after the Mark II was released. Wire wheels, overdrive transmission, a layered windshield, a heater, an adjustable steering column, a removable hardtop and two-tone paint were all available as options.
